The Firebirds' main focus to get kids out to have fun and play rugby.  In rugby, there is a place for every body size and athletic ability.    The Firebirds welcome both boys and girls to the sport of Rugby!

Join us anytime during the season and don't worry if you've never played the game before.  Rugby is a life long sport.  It is never too late to start!

2023-2024 Registration is now open

Payment to play rugby is a 3 step process* - registering and paying club dues with the Firebirds and registering and paying national dues with USA Rugby and purchase of a uniform.

This is for your reference only.  This does not need to be turned in.

We prefer if you can complete all requirements the same day, if possible.

7 steps to complete

Step 1: Photo

• Photo must be from waist up against a light or white solid background. 
• Player should not be wearing a hat or sunglasses.  If the player wears sports glasses, they may have them on.

1.   You will need this photo to upload to your player's USA Rugby account

Step 2: Age identification/document verification

Scan one of the following government documents to upload

• birth certificate
• passport
• driver's license
• State ID

1. You will be asked to upload the document to your player's USAR account

STEP 3: Photo or screen shot of High School ID (U/16, U/19, High school players Only)

STEP 4: COMPLETE USA RUGBY REGISTRATION - Create a Rugby Explorer account AND pay registration fee

USA Registration is required every year and needs to be renewed on or after September 1st.

Annual registration runs September 1 to August 31.

Step 5: Complete Firebirds Online Registration and Dues Payment

Be sure to complete your registration in one sitting.  The form will not be saved if you leave before it is completed and submitted. 
You may return to a submitted form to add missing information.

Important notes to the Firebirds registration process

• Firebirds' club dues will be collected at the end of the registration form.  The form will automatically send you to the payment section.
• All waiver and acknowledgement forms are collected electronically in the registration form. 
  • Mandatory:  all electronic waiver and acknowledgement forms must have the player and all parent/guardian names typed in the form.

FIREBIRDS CLUB DUES PAYMENT (separate to USA Rugby fees)

For payment, we accept check made out Phoenix Rugby, cash, Venmo (@robspeers) or credit card swipe via Square in person, but the preferred option is for you to pay online during the SportEngine registration process.

Player Club Dues for the 2023-2024 Season:
$120  - U19 and U16 Tackle:  Oct-April
$90  - Youth Tackle (U10, U12, U14):  Oct - Feb
$60  - Youth Flag:  Oct - Feb

***   Assistant Coaches & Team Managers get 50% discount on their child’s registration fee   

Reminder: dues are non-refundable and a season is not guaranteed.

U19 - DOB 9/2/2004 - 9/1/2007
U16 - DOB 9/2/2007 - 9/1/2009
U14 - DOB 9/2/2009 - 9/1/2011
U12 - DOB 9/2/2011 - 9/1/2013
U10 - DOB 9/2/2013 - 9/1/2015
U8 -    DOB 9/2/2015 or younger

Payment through the registration system is preferred.  Should you need to pay with an alternative form, use these codes

Note:  Do not mark Zelle payments as good or services.  This designation deducts money from your payment to the Firebirds.  You will be asked to cancel the incorrect Zelle transaction and resend payment.

Step 6: Enroll in the team sportsyou group

SportsYou is the main communication tool used by the Phoenix Firebirds.  Occasionally an email is sent to players and their families.

Each player AND ONE PARENT/GUARDIAN must signup/enroll in SportsYou.

All players must notify the coaching staff via SportsYou if you will not be playing a match or going to practice.

Sports You uses:

• Notify coaches of absence from a match or practice
• General communication
• Game day line ups
• Last minute changes
• Upload photos to share

Important email communication information

Once your Firebirds online registration form is submitted, all emails listed will be placed in our email system.  These emails frequently go into the junk folders. 

We suggest the following:

• mark phoenixfirebirdsrugby@gmail.com as a safe sender

Step 7: Purchase Uniforms

All new players are required to purchase a complete uniform kit.  Veteran players may purchase individual items as needed.
